Chokai Kogen Yashima Ski Area trail map
Chokai Kogen Yashima is a city-run ski area on the Akita side of Mt. Chokai in Yurihonjo, known for dry snow and a terrain park with kickers and rails. A hooded high-speed quad reaches the top in about four minutes, serving six courses from the 1.3 km beginner Panorama run to 25-degree advanced pitches, plus side banks for terrain riding and short slalom courses. A kids' sledding area suits families. Night skiing runs mainly on winter Saturdays, and the season lasts from mid-December to late March.
