Kyukamura Nyuto Ski Area Closed
Official name 休暇村乳頭スキー場 · Formerly 休暇村田沢湖スキー場, 田沢湖高原国民休暇村乳頭
Akita
Open 1965–2007
Kyukamura Nyuto Ski Area stood next to the Kyukamura national resort hotel in the Nyuto Onsen hot-spring area of Semboku, Akita. Opened in 1965 by the Kokumin Kyukamura organisation, and earlier called Kyukamura Tazawako Ski Area, it had a chairlift built in 1966 (a single, later replaced by a pair) and a T-bar added in 1988. Heavy snow let skiing run until about Golden Week. Operations stopped in 2004, it was formally abolished in 2007, and the lifts were removed. The old ski area is now a trailhead for hikes to Mt. Yumori and Akita-Komagatake, while winter guests at the hotel ski at Tazawako Ski Area, about 25 minutes away by car.
