Cupid Valley trail map

Cupid Valley spreads across the north face of Mt. Hishigatake in the Yasuzuka district of Joetsu, Niigata. Its mainly north-facing slopes hold snow well, and on clear days the summit looks out over the Sea of Japan. The signature run is a 4 km cruise from top to bottom, while a 32-degree mogul pitch and a permit-based tree-run zone keep stronger riders busy. Twelve runs are split fairly evenly across levels, and a kids' park with sleds and tubing plus the on-site Yukidaruma natural hot spring make it a good family pick. The season runs from mid-December to late March with some Saturday night skiing, and it is easiest to reach by car from the Joetsu or Kakizaki exits of the Hokuriku Expressway.
