Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort trail map
Nozawa Onsen is one of Japan's major ski resorts, spreading along three ridges from the 1,650 m summit of Mt. Kenashi down to a traditional hot-spring village, with about 1,085 m of vertical. Long descents run from the Yamabiko area at the top to the village, and the terrain mixes reliable powder, tree-lined trails, a 39-degree wall, a snow park and a halfpipe. Owned by the village, it has deep roots in Japanese ski history and hosts the Japan Ski Museum. Below the slopes the village's public baths (sotoyu) make it easy to soak after skiing. The Nozawa Onsen Liner bus runs year-round from Iiyama Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
