Mt. Nabekurayama is the main summit of the Sekida Mountain Range along the Niigata–Nagano border, a 1,289 m peak straddling Jōetsu in Niigata and Iiyama in Nagano. Renowned for its old-growth beech forest, it sits at the center of Section 4 of the 110 km Shin-etsu Trail and commands views of the Iiyama Basin, the Sea of Japan, and the Myōkō range. It is featured in Shinshū Hyakumeizan, Echigo Hyakuzan, Niigata 100 Meizan, Shinshū Furusato 120-zan, and the Shin-etsu Trail.
