Madarao Mountain Resort trail map
Madarao Mountain Resort spreads over the northern slopes of Mt. Madarao on the Nagano-Niigata border and is best known for natural powder and a large number of designated tree runs. It links with neighbouring Tangram Ski Circus for 52 runs in total. Ungroomed lines such as World Cup and Powder Line, gully runs like SAWA and the NINJA glade with a ladder jump sit alongside gentle beginner slopes, a terrain park and night skiing. A hot-spring hotel at the base and the SNOW BASE sledding area make it easy for families, and shuttles connect it with Iiyama Station, Nozawa Onsen and Myoko.

Train
- Shinkansen Iiyama Station Hokuriku Shinkansen · 2025-26 season (Dec 13, 2025 – Mar 31, 2026) · Use the Chikumagawa Exit, not the Madarao Exit. Get off at Madarao Kogen Hotel → Bus from the Chikumagawa Exit stop 1: Community Bus Madarao Line (¥500 one way, about 26 min) or the Madarao express / Iiyama Sta.–Madarao–Tangram express (¥800, about 20 min)
From the airport
- Narita Airport → Madarao Kogen Hotel MKK (Mt. Myoko Shuttle) · about 5 h 40 min (dep. 10:00, arr. 15:40) · 19 Dec 2026 to 23 Mar 2027 (varies by trip) · Reservation required (at least 13 days ahead). Off-piste outside the ski area follows the Hokushin-area backcountry rules the resort links (hs-sakudo); in-bounds powder is offered on ungroomed runs and many designated tree-run courses.
