Mount Kurokura

黒倉山

A 1,242-meter peak on the Sekida Ridge that marks the Niigata–Nagano prefectural border. Cloaked in heavy-snow-fed beech forest, it forms the heart of Section 04 of the Shinetsu Trail together with the slightly higher Mount Nabekura (1,288 m) just to the north. The ridge is varied and at times narrow, with steep climbs and descents, and on clear days the panorama from the crest stretches across the Iiyama Basin to the Sea of Japan. The peak is included in the Niigata Prefecture Mountain Guide (Bunken Tozan Guide) and in the Shinetsu Trail list.
