Mt. Nakamorimaruyama
中盛丸山
Shizuoka, Shizuoka / Iida, Nagano · Elevation 2,807 m
Mt. Nakamorimaruyama is a 2,807 m peak straddling Ōshika Village in Nagano Prefecture and Aoi Ward of Shizuoka City, set in the middle of the western ridge of the Akaishi Mountains between Mt. Akaishi and Mt. Hijiri within Minami Alps National Park. Its rounded, rice-mound silhouette gives the mountain its name, and together with neighbouring Mt. Ōsawa to the north and Mt. Usagi to the south it forms a three-peak set along the high traverse. Hikers reach it from the Nagano side via the Koshibu River (Yuori gate) or Shirabiso Pass, or from the Shizuoka side via the Sawarajima trailhead and the Hyakkendō-yama-no-ie hut operated by Tokushu Tōkai Forest; it is included in the Japan Top 100 High Mountains list.
