Hirogawara Hut

広河原小屋

1,449 m · Ōshika-mura, Nagano · 2.5 km from the summit of Mount Takayama

Unmanned hut at 1,430m by the confluence with Fukugawa, high in the Koshibugawa valley in Oshika Village, Nagano, on the western side of the Southern Alps. Administered by Oshika Village's industry and construction division, it is open year-round. It is the mid-point of the Koshibugawa route to Akaishidake, which fords the river some twenty times above the Yuzori gate, so walkers rest here after the wading or stage the next day's climb from it. The village calls the route very demanding and asks people not to attempt it when the water is high. The hut lies within the Southern Alps National Park.
