Mount Senmai (2,880 m) rises in Aoi Ward, Shizuoka City, in the southern Southern Japan Alps. It is a forepeak on the east ridge of Mount Warusawa (East Peak), the highest of the Arakawa Sanzan trio, and serves as the gateway to the traverse onward to Mount Akaishi. The standard route climbs from Sawarajima Lodge across the Senmai Suspension Bridge, past the Shimizu-daira water source, to Senmai Hut just below the summit. The summit offers panoramas of Mt. Fuji and alpine flower meadows, and sits within Minami Alps National Park and the Minami Alps UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is listed in Japan's 642 Peaks Above 2,000 m and the 223 Mountains with Views of Fuji.
