千枚小屋

2,614 m · Shizuoka, Shizuoka · 1.8 km from the summit of Mount Warusawa

Shizuoka prefectural hut at about 2,610m just east of and below Senmaidake in the Southern Alps. Operated by Tokushu Tokai Forest, it stands at the key point on the climb from Sawarajima to Senmaidake and the Arakawa peaks, and serves as the starting point for the traverse on to Akaishidake. Comparatively large, it sleeps 80 and offers two-meal or room-only stays with bedding, though mid-July and from late September it is room-only. A campsite for about 30 tents is taken on the day. Water is found about ten minutes below the campsite and at a stream beside the trail two minutes toward Senmaidake, but both can dry up in low-water periods. Outside the season the second floor is opened as a shelter.
