Mt. Naginatayama is a 1,647 m peak on the Fukui-Gifu prefectural border between Ōno City and the Itoshiro district of Gujō City, lying on the ridge running northwest from neighbouring Mt. Nobuse in the southern Ryōhaku Mountains. The peak has no maintained summer trail and lies in heavy-snow country; it is climbed mostly during the late-March-to-mid-April residual-snow season, often by ski-mountaineers starting from the Hakusan Chūkyo Shrine area in Itoshiro and traversed together with Mt. Nobuse. The summit offers views of the Hakusan range and Mt. Bessan, and it is included in the Continuing Gifu 100 Mountains list.
