Takasu Snow Park, on the eastern flank of Mount Dainichi in Gujo, Gifu, is one of the biggest ski areas in western Japan. A 15-person gondola climbs straight to the 1,550 m summit, from where cruising runs stretch up to 4.9 km, and the summit links with neighbouring Dynaland on a shared lift ticket. Its Olympic-standard superpipe and a park mixing banks and kickers make it a favourite with snowboarders. Snowmaking helps a long season that usually runs into late April. Families have the Yukinos kids' snow area, and the summit café Takasu Terrace sometimes sits above a sea of clouds. It is about ten minutes from Takasu IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, roughly two hours by car from Nagoya.
