The west peak of Mimatayama in the Kuju range, Oita Prefecture, at 1,678 m. Mimatayama has four summits — west, main, north and south — and the route from Sugamori Pass crosses the west peak on the way to the main peak. A further circuit passes the Onabe and Konabe crater hollows. It lies in Aso-Kuju National Park and is known for Kyushu azalea in June and autumn colour in October.
