Shelter at about 1,730m on the southeast shore of Oike, in the heart of the Kuju range within Aso-Kuju National Park, in Kuju, Kujumachi, Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. It sits beside the crater lake cradled between Nakadake (1,791m), the highest peak of the range, and Tengugajo (1,780m), in the area where paths toward Mt. Kuju (1,787m), Inaboshiyama and Higashisenrigahama come together. The Ministry of the Environment's national hut list classes it as a publicly owned emergency shelter managed by the Kuju branch office of Taketa City. About 800m west, at Kujuwakare, stand another shelter and a toilet, roughly two hours from the Makinoto trailhead. No official source could be found giving this hut's capacity or conditions of use.
