Takeshi Banshogahara is a small family ski area run by an Ueda city foundation, at about 1,300 m in the mountains of the Takeshi district near Utsukushigahara. Two lifts serve gentle beginner and intermediate slopes, and its pride is a long, relaxed run of about 1 km. Snowboarding is allowed everywhere. Ueda and Nerima residents get discounted lift tickets. The season runs from late December to late March. It is reached by car from the Tobu-Yunomaru exit of the Joshinetsu Expressway, and the Takeshi area has day-use hot springs.
