Shirakabako Royal Hill sits on the northern foot of Mt. Yashigamine above Lake Shirakaba, and stands out for frequent sunny days and the only nightly night skiing in the area through the night season. A large snowmaking system keeps the slopes reliable from opening day. Around ten short courses range from gentle beginner runs to a 26-degree advanced pitch, with terrain parks, a mogul run and race training. The slope-side Shirakabako Royal Hotel doubles as the base lodge, and a kids' room, sledding area with a snow escalator, and free lift tickets for children with a paying adult make it popular with families. It is about 40 minutes by car from the Chuo Expressway.
