Open 1981–2003
Showa Sonei was a small ski area run by Showa village in western Fukushima, on the north face of Gongenyama beside Route 400. Opened in 1981 under the name Gongenyama Ski Area, it had a single chairlift of about 300 m and a simple Polar Star lift, serving two short runs between roughly 450 m and 530 m, with no night skiing. It closed in 2003. The base building and lifts have since been removed, and trees have been planted on the old main slope.
