Mount Shizukurayama is a 1,234-meter beech-covered peak rising at the meeting point of Mishima, Showa, and Yanaizu in Fukushima Prefecture. Long revered as a sacred mountain for rain-prayer rites, it is known for the great Amagoi-iwa slab, the Byobu-iwa cliff, and centuries-old giant beech trees, and appears in many regional lists including the Tohoku Hyakumeizan. The Mishima Town Tourism Association traditionally holds its mountain-opening ceremony in early June.
