Okunakayama Kogen Ski Resort trail map
Okunakayama Kogen Ski Resort spreads over the east and northeast slopes of Mt. Nishidake (1,018 m) in Ichinohe, northern Iwate, with views on clear days to Mt. Iwate, the Hakkoda range and the Kitakami mountains. Eleven runs total about 10 km over 368 m of vertical, split roughly evenly between advanced, intermediate and beginner terrain, including the 2,000 m Yamabiko course, a designated tree-run zone and a snow park. A free, netted kids' area suits young families. A hotel and the free-flowing Okunakayama Kogen hot springs sit at the base, night skiing runs mainly on weekends, and the season lasts from mid-December to late March.
