Kamitakara Kogen Ski Area Closed
Official name 上宝高原スキー場
Gifu
Closed in 2000
Kamitakara Kogen Ski Area stood beside Prefectural Road 76 in the former village of Kamitakara, now part of Takayama, Gifu. Two single chairlifts served five runs over about 230 m of vertical, with gentle beginner slopes at the bottom and pitches up to 35 degrees higher up. Its final season drew only about 1,700 visitors, and it closed after the 2000 winter. The lifts have been removed and the slopes are returning to forest; a few abandoned buildings and a stone marker bearing the ski area's name remain at the base.
