Iwate

Open 1967–2022

Iwayama Park was a ski hill on the Iwayama hills just east of central Morioka. It opened in 1967 on the golf course next to the Iwayama Parkland amusement park, which became ski slopes in winter, and it served the city as a close-to-home hill for ski lessons, with its own Iwayama Ski School. Ageing facilities and falling visitor numbers led the operator, Heiwa Kanko Kaihatsu, to pull out of ski operation, and the hill closed after its last day on 30 January 2022, ending 54 years of operation. The golf course and Iwayama Parkland remain open.
