Namari Onsen Ski Area trail map
Namari Onsen Ski Area is a city-run hill near the Namari hot spring, deep in the Hanamaki onsen district of Iwate, about 20 minutes on a nearly flat road from the Hanamaki-Minami exit of the Tohoku Expressway. Mild weather means the lifts rarely stop. Two pair lifts serve a gentle first slope and a practice area for beginners, plus the 32-degree Champion course and the 2 km Saturn course for stronger skiers. Prices are low, preschoolers ski free, there are snowboard lessons on weekends, and the area's hot spring inns are minutes away.

- Tohoku Expressway, Hanamaki-Minami IC (東北自動車道 花巻南IC), 15 km, 20 min
Train
- Hanamaki Station JR Tohoku Main Line / Kamaishi Line · JR Tohoku Shinkansen: Tokyo ⇔ Shin-Hanamaki about 3 hr → Iwate Kenkotsu route bus, about 30 min (11 round trips a day on weekdays, 5 on weekends and holidays)
