Ishinoyu Ski Area was a small independent ski area at Ishinoyu in the Hirayuka district of Shiga Kogen, between the central area and the Kumanoyu-Yokoteyama side. A single lift with a mid-station climbed the north-east slope of Maeyama, a spur of Mt. Bojiyama, with a beginner slope below the mid-station and intermediate and advanced runs above it. The lift opened in December 1967 and the season ran from early December to late May, but the area closed around 1994. The valley nearby is known for its Genji fireflies in summer.
