Mt. Mikurayama

Mikurayama is a 1,888-meter peak in Shimogo Town, Minami-Aizu District, Fukushima Prefecture, set on the western edge of the Nasu Range in the area known as 'Ura-Nasu'. The name is said to come from its three small summits: Ichinokura, Ninokura, and Sannokura, and the top affords a sweeping 360-degree panorama. It lies within Nikko National Park and is commonly traversed together with the neighbouring Okurayama and Nagareishiyama. An annual mountain-opening ceremony is held each July at the Otone trailhead in Shimogo. The peak is included in 'Utsukushima Hyakumeizan' and 'Aizu Hyakumeizan'.
