Chausudake, also called Mount Nasu, is an active volcano with continuing fumarolic activity in craters on its western slope. A pyroclastic cone and lava dome occupy the summit area, with fumaroles inside and outside the central crater. The Nasu Ropeway provides access, followed by a hike of about 50 minutes each way from its upper station to the summit.
