Hunter Mountain Shiobara trail map
Hunter Mountain Shiobara, nicknamed "Huntama", is a Tokyu-run resort on the north-west slopes of Mt. Takahara in Tochigi and a popular day trip from the Tokyo area. A gondola serves twelve runs named after New York streets such as Broadway and Wall Street, with a top-to-bottom descent of about 3 km. Terrain ranges from wide beginner slopes to 25-degree advanced pitches, a mogul run and graded snow parks, while a kids' park with a snow escalator makes it easy for families. Snowmaking covers every run, so the season stretches from late November to the May holidays. It is an easy drive from the Tohoku Expressway, and free reservation-only shuttles run from Nasushiobara Station.
