Mount Sasakura
笹倉山(大森)
Taiwa, Miyagi · Elevation 507 m
Mount Sasakura (Sasakurayama, 506.5 m) is the highest and westernmost of the seven peaks of Nanatsumori in Taiwa Town, Kurokawa District, Miyagi Prefecture, a row of conical hills clearly visible from National Route 4. Each summit holds a Yakushi Nyorai stone Buddha, and the local Nana-Yakushi-gake pilgrimage of visiting all seven in a day is still practiced. A six-kilometer nature trail links the Shinrakuji-ato site through the chain of peaks to Nanatsumori-ko at Nankawa Dam, with autumn foliage especially celebrated. It is counted among the Tōhoku Hyakumeizan, Nihon no Yama 1000, and Michinoku 120 Mountains.
