Mount Sanpokura (971.1 m) rises above the upper Futakuchi Gorge in Akiu, Taihaku Ward, Sendai City, a quiet beech-covered peak within Futakuchi-keikoku Prefectural Natural Park alongside Akiu Great Falls, Rairaikyo Gorge and Mount Daito. Two hiking routes — Buna-daira and Shiroyashio — were opened around 2005 by volunteer trail builders. The mountain is listed in the Miyagi Prefecture Guidebook.
