Tongariyama is a 1,241 m peak in Kawasaki, Miyagi, near the Yamagata prefectural border. In the northern Zaō range, it lies on the ridge traverse from Sasaya Pass toward Yamagata-Kamurodake, between Hamaguriyama and Yamagata-Kamurodake, and is named for its sharp, pointed profile. The approach from Hamaguriyama is steep and rocky; a gentler ridge with autumn foliage continues toward Yamagata-Kamurodake.
