Mount Kisokoma
駒ヶ岳
Kiso, Nagano / Agematsu, Nagano / Miyada, Nagano · Elevation 2,956 m
Mount Kisokoma is a 2,956 m peak on the boundary between Agematsu Town and Miyada Village in Nagano Prefecture, the highest summit of the Kiso Mountains (Central Alps). Also known as Nishi-Komagatake, it is listed in Fukada Kyūya's Hyakumeizan, the Hana-no-Hyakumeizan, and the Ittō-Sankakuten Hyakumeizan. Within Chūō Alps Quasi-National Park (designated 2020), it is famed for the great Senjō-jiki cirque carved into its eastern flank, which the Komagatake Ropeway reaches directly at 2,612 m — making this 3,000 m-class peak one of the most accessible big mountains in Japan. The standard route climbs from Senjō-jiki Station via Norikoshi-Jōdo and the Hōken-Sansō hut to the summit, passing alpine flower meadows of komakusa and chinguruma along the ridge in summer.
