Mount Kiri-no-tō

Mount Kiri-no-tō is a 1,994 m peak rising on the northern ridge of the Naeba massif in Niigata, just north of Mount Kagura and within Jōshin'etsu-Kōgen National Park. Few climbers approach it as a stand-alone goal; instead the summit serves as a waypoint on the long traverse from Shindō Bunki via the Komatsubara wetland on the way to Mount Naeba. Quiet ridges threading wetland and forest, complemented by summer alpine flowers, earned the peak its place in Tanaka Sumie's Hana no Hyakumeizan.
