Kagura Ski Resort trail map
Kagura is a big ski area on the flanks of Kaguragamine, part of Mount Naeba above Yuzawa, known for its long season, from late November to mid-May. The upper slopes near 1,800 m keep good snow, with ungroomed pitches, a tree run, moguls and gated backcountry access after storms. It has three areas: Mitsumata for easier runs and parks, Kagura for intermediate and advanced terrain, and beginner-friendly Tashiro, which the Dragondola links to Naeba on a joint ticket. Buses take about 20 minutes from Echigo-Yuzawa Station, so it is a classic spring-skiing trip from the capital.

- Shinkansen Tokyo Station → Echigo-Yuzawa Station JR Joetsu Shinkansen · 90 min · From Niigata Station 50 min by Joetsu Shinkansen. The bus timetable shown is for the 2025-26 season (13 December 2025 – 22 March 2026). From Haneda/Narita airports via Tokyo Station; from Niigata Airport by limousine bus via Niigata Station → From the Minami Echigo Kanko Bus Yuzawa Ekimae stop (platform 1) at the East Exit, take the route bus or winter express bus bound for Naeba Ski Area, about 18 min to Kagura Mitsumata Ski-jo-mae, then 1 min on foot (Mitsumata Station). For Tashiro Station: winter express bus about 27 min to Tashiro Ski-jo, 1 min walk, or route bus about 28 min to Futai Tashiro Ski-jo-mae, 7 min walk

Backcountry
Leaving the area is allowed only through the gates (e.g. the 神楽ヶ峰 gate at the top of かぐら第5ロマンスリフト) after submitting a climbing plan, with beacon, shovel and probe; rescue costs are charged to the person rescued.
