Mount Arasawa is a 1,968 m peak rising above Ginzandaira in the Okutadami region of Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, set within Echigo Sanzan-Tadami Quasi-National Park. Its sharp, rocky profile invites comparison to the Hotaka Range and has earned it the nickname "Hotaka of Echigo," with listings in the Nihon Nihyaku Meizan and the Echigo Hyakuzan. A single trail leads from the Ginzandaira trailhead over Maeyama and Maegura to the summit; the chains, ladders, and slick rock around Maegura are serious hazards. Chain installation and removal dates are announced each year, making June through October the practical climbing season; the annual mountain-opening event is generally held in late June.
