Yakushi Ski Area trail map
Yakushi is a small local hill in Yunotani, Uonuma, Niigata, right next to the Yu-Park Yakushi day spa. Its north-facing slope holds plenty of good snow, and a single pair chairlift serves three groomed and ungroomed courses. The wide, gentle lower slope suits beginners and children's snow play, and there is a 30-degree pitch for stronger skiers. Snowboards and snow scooters are allowed everywhere, and on weekends a snowmobile pulls a banana boat. It is run by a non-profit, the whole slope can be hired on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and it is about seven minutes from the Uonuma IC on the Kan-etsu Expressway.
