Koshi Kogen Ski Area trail map
Koshi Kogen is a small city-run ski hill on Mount Yake in the Yamakoshi district of Nagaoka, served by a single pair chairlift. Beside the lift run a steep main slope for confident skiers and a gentler detour for beginners and intermediates, and the top looks out over the Yamakoshi hills. A beginners' area and a sledding slope make it easy for families. Night skiing runs three evenings a week, and children ride free on the third Sunday of each month. Damaged in the 2004 Chuetsu earthquake, it stayed closed until 2008 and is now run for the local community. The season runs from late December to mid-March.
