Kibōhō is a 2,502 m peak on the main ridge of the southern Southern Alps, on the Nagano-Shizuoka boundary between Chausudake and Tekarudake. As the Ministry of the Environment describes the route, walking north from Irōdake brings Kibōhō, Nitadake and the Nita pond into view; Nitadake branches off the ridge at Kibōhō and is a detour, but rewards it with a full 360-degree panorama. North of Kibōhō lies the Nita pond, where petals of Takane cherry settle on the water around June, and the area is ptarmigan habitat. It lies within Minami Alps National Park.
