Shizuoka prefectural hut at 2,520m just below the summit of Tekaridake, the southernmost of Japan's Hyakumeizan, in the far south of the Southern Alps. Although it stands within Minamishinano, Iida City in Nagano, it was built by Shizuoka Prefecture, and Kawanehon Town's tourism division handles reservations and enquiries. The usual approaches are the Iroudo route from the Nagano side, walking the forest road up from Shibasawa Gate, and the Hatanagi route from the Shizuoka side; both make for long days. The Senji-ga-hara wetland spreads in front of the hut and the white Tekari-ishi outcrop is close by. The season runs from mid-July to the end of September, and every plan is reservation-only via the web. Hut stays give a bed and mattress for up to 20 guests, with dinner and a breakfast bento available in July and August (September is room-only); there is also a ten-pitch campsite and rental dome tents that come with sleeping bags.
