Mountain hut at about 2,400m just east of and below Chausudake in the southern Southern Alps. Run by the Ikawa Tourism Association, it is an old-style hut built of natural timber, and the outlook over Mt. Fuji and the flower meadows makes it one of the finest viewpoints in the range. The summit of Chausudake is 30 minutes away and Kamikochidake two hours. From the Numadaira gate on the Shizuoka side it is 40 minutes to the trailhead at the Hatanagi suspension bridge, and a steep climb from there. In recent years it has also been used by walkers heading over to Tekaridake and Iroudake on the Nagano side. The season runs mid-July to late September; stays are room-only with bedding for rent, water and toilets are outdoors, and tent pitches are taken by advance reservation.
