Yamagata
Open 1980–1999
Mogamigawa Ski Area was a national (kokusetsu) ski area on the hillside directly behind JR Takaya Station on the Rikuu-Saisen Line in Tozawa Village, Yamagata, above the Mogami River. It opened in 1980 with runs for beginners through advanced skiers and closed around 1999. Since 2006 the village has been working to return the former slopes to forest, and the site is no longer used for skiing, although the old lift structures are reported to remain.
