Kitanosawa Ski Area, also called Kitanosawa Sankakuyama Ski Area, was a small hill in the Kitanosawa district of Minami-ku, Sapporo. Local residents built it from November 1965 as a project of the Moiwa tourism development association, and it opened in February 1966. Its gently rolling slopes covered about 20 hectares on the slopes of Mount Moiwa, with a management office at the entrance, and it ran from mid-January to early March. City subsidies covered its running costs, and schools used it for children's ski lessons. The ski area helped draw new residents, and Kitanosawa later grew into a residential district.
