Kamoidake International Ski Resort trail map
Kamoidake International Ski Resort sits on Mount Kamoi above the town of Utashinai, and is known for its ungroomed West powder area, open to advanced riders only. The East side has two chairlifts and five runs, from the gentle Bambi course to the 29-degree race course, plus a terrain park. Once there is enough snow, the West area opens for an extra fee: you drop in from the top of Lift 1 and ride a free shuttle back. The former city-run hill closed in 2019 after its operator went bankrupt and reopened in 2020 under new owners. The adjoining hotel, with a Finnish sauna and large bath, is temporarily closed for refurbishment. Furano is about 50 minutes away and Asahikawa about an hour.

Backcountry
The ungroomed West powder area opens only once the snow is deep enough, needs a separate ¥2,900 entry ticket on top of a lift ticket, and is reached from the top of East Lift 1 with a free shuttle back.
