Hida Funayama Snow Resort Arkopia Closed
Official name 飛驒舟山スノーリゾートアルコピア · Formerly 舟山高原スキー場
Gifu
Open 1963–2023
Arkopia was Takayama City's ski area on the northeast face of Mt. Funayama in Kuguno, Gifu. It opened in 1963 as Funayama Kogen Ski Area of the former Kuguno town and took the Arkopia name in 1998. Spanning roughly 800 to 1,200 m, it had four lifts, eight runs, a longest descent of 2,300 m and views of the Northern Alps. After visitor numbers fell, the city decided to close it, and the last day of skiing was 12 March 2023. A local operator later reopened the slope as a snow-play area without lifts, and in summer the former piste is known for its sunflower field.
