Daisenji Ski Area Closed
Official name 大川寺スキー場 · Formerly 上滝スキー場
Toyama
Open 1922–1997
Daisenji Ski Area, originally called Kamidaki Ski Area, was on Daisenji hill in former Kamidaki town, now part of Toyama City. The town laid out the slope around 1922, after the prefectural railway (today's Toyama Chiho Railway Kamidaki Line) arrived, to draw visitors, and in 1923 it hosted the 3rd Toyama Prefecture ski championships; for years it was the ski area closest to Toyama city. The Daisenji Yuen amusement park opened beside it in 1958. The park closed in March 1997 and the ski area seems to have closed at the same time; by 2000 the facilities had been removed and the land has returned to nature.
