Mt. Sarukura

Mt. Sarukura (345 m) is a satoyama hill on the left bank of the Jinzū River in southern Toyama City, included in the Yama-Kei prefectural guide to Toyama mountains. The site was once occupied by a medieval mountain castle, and the surrounding area is now Sarukurayama Forest Park, with the "Kaze-no-Shiro" (Castle of the Wind) observation tower on the summit. A 9.6 km "Furusato Hodo" hiking trail, opened in 1975 to mark Toyama Prefecture's centenary, links the peak with Mt. Gozen and Mt. Kosanami-Gozen along a popular ridge overlooking the Jinzū Gorge and the Toyama Plain.
