Chanokidaira Ski Area Closed
Official name 茶ノ木平スキー場
Tochigi
Chanokidaira Ski Area was a small family ski slope on Chanokidaira (about 1,600 m), the flat-topped mountain on the east shore of Lake Chuzenji in Nikko, Tochigi. It lay within an alpine botanical garden reached by ropeway from Chuzenji Onsen, with a rope tow, a rest house and lodging. When the Chuzenji Onsen Ropeway was abolished in April 2003, the garden closed too, and all the buildings and ropeway equipment were later removed. The summit area has been returned to nature and is now reached by hiking trails from Chuzenji Onsen and Akechidaira.
