Katashina Kogen Ski Resort trail map
Katashina Kogen is a skiers-only resort in Gunma, with no snowboarders on its slopes and Miffy as its official mascot. Families come for the Miffy snow-play park, a Strider balance-bike park for toddlers, a snow escalator and a kids' ski school, and the resort is also popular with older skiers and adults working on their technique. Most of the runs are broad beginner and intermediate cruisers, including a long forest run from the top, but there is also a mogul-lined advanced pitch and a permanent slalom course. The area sits on the road towards Oze, reached by car from the Kan-Etsu Expressway at Numata, and slopeside cottages let guests stay on the mountain.
