Akinomiya Ski Area Closed
Official name 秋ノ宮スキー場
Akita · 381–558 m
Closed in 2011
Akinomiya Ski Area was a small hill beside Route 108 in the Akinomiya Onsen district of southern Yuzawa, Akita, near the Miyagi border. A single pair lift served two runs between about 380 m and 560 m, with pitches up to 30 degrees and night skiing. Operations stopped in the late 2000s and the city formally closed the area in 2011. The lift has been removed, and each February the old slope becomes the venue for the Kadaru Snow Festival, with thousands of mini snow huts and fireworks.
