Mt. Uchimi is a 1,108 m peak in the southern Hira Mountains on the western shore of Lake Biwa in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, forming a twin summit with Mt. Hōrai just to its south. The broad summit area is occupied by Biwako Valley, a year-round resort reached by ropeway from the lakeshore base, with chairlifts and viewing terraces commanding sweeping views over Lake Biwa. The mountain lies within Lake Biwa Quasi-National Park and is one of the principal peaks on the long-distance Hira–Hiei Trail. It draws visitors throughout the year — alpine flowers and autumn colour in the warmer months, skiing in winter.
