Biwako Hakodateyama Ski Resort trail map
Biwako Hakodateyama sits on a summit reached by an eight-minute gondola ride from the western shore of Lake Biwa, and the lake views plus its closeness to Kyoto and Osaka are its main draw. A broad, open slope holds short runs of 300 to 700 m that make it easy for beginners and families to lap and keep an eye on each other, while the Three Valley runs reach 38 degrees for stronger skiers. There is also an SAJ-certified cross-country course, snowshoe trails, snow rafting, a free play zone and a pet-friendly gondola. The season usually runs from late December to late March, helped by a snowmaking slope, and Omi-Imazu Station is a 20-minute bus ride away.

Train
- Kyoto Station → Omi-Imazu Station JR Kosei Line · about 48 min · Bus times are for the 2025-26 season · Limited express, Special Rapid and local trains stop here. Some buses run via Makino → Kokoku Bus from stop 2 in front of the station to Hakodateyama, about 20 min (adults ¥220; 8 round trips, 8:15–16:56 from the station), then 40 m on foot to the gondola base station and about 8 min by gondola to the summit
